Common Sense for Uncommon Times - Fair and Balanced

Random, occasionally rambling thoughts with links to interesting, scandalous, or partisan news of the day.

Fair and Balanced
common sense indeed. Living Heroes
We owe the liberty and freedom we take for granted to the enlisted men and women in the armed forces. They sacrifice family, ease, and even life laboring in service to all of us. The least we can do for them is honor their devotion with dignified pay scales, decent education for themselves and their children, and reasonable compensation for service away from their families and death on the battlefield. Flag waving politicians who praise the troops on one hand and cut their pay and benefits with the other should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

Bush just can't stop lying.
In the debates he was asked point blank if he believes Saddam was connected with 9/11 and he told the truth. But today, perhaps thinking the Spanish media wouldn't nail him for massive fib-ilation, he reverted to form,
"I would tell them the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the war against those who caused the deaths on 9/11 is necessary,"

I sure wish we had a president who only lied about sex...

Bush voters still reality challenged
PIPA's latest study confirms that large majorities of Bush voters are wrong about things that are objectively true. It's as if the Duelfer report, the 9/11 Commission, and Bush's own recent admissions just haven't mattered. You have to read it to understand the depth of cognitive dissonance Bush voters must carry in their heads. Where's Charles Krauthammer when you really need him to diagnose a psychiatric problem.

Bush let's the bad guys get away
Avoiding attacking suspected terrorist mastermind
Just a reminder from before the Iraq war that Zarqawi, the guy behind a lot of the car bombings in Iraq today, was a sitting duck for us three times. We didn't go after him so Bush would have a pretext for war. Lame, lame, lame. It fits in with the Washington Post article today about Bush's hand maintained checklist of bad guys. Actually, the whole article is filled with depressingly familiar reminders of how Bush took his eye off the Al-Qaeda ball.
