Common Sense for Uncommon Times - Fair and Balanced |

Random, occasionally rambling thoughts with links to interesting, scandalous, or partisan news of the day. Fair and Balanced
We owe the liberty and freedom we take for granted to the enlisted men and women in the armed forces. They sacrifice family, ease, and even life laboring in service to all of us. The least we can do for them is honor their devotion with dignified pay scales, decent education for themselves and their children, and reasonable compensation for service away from their families and death on the battlefield. Flag waving politicians who praise the troops on one hand and cut their pay and benefits with the other should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

Sorry for the lapse in posting, but new restaurants take more than a modicum of attention to succeed. I'm lucky, fortunate, blessed to be married to Wild Jane, but she needs a toilet replacing, hood updating, wall painting, light dimming factotum more than this blog needs me. The hiatus is interrupted, briefly, to bring you this lovely masterpiece of budget folly. We've got $170 billion for Iraq, but only $10 million for helping to rebuild Waziristan. Bush isn't just a garden variety idiot. He's world class... Horse puckey! Ten million? I shit bigger contributions than that. They don't want fucking roads and schools. They want respect, dialogue, and a shared agenda. Look at their damned literacy rates. They want schools that work; that respect Islam and local culture. They'll bend to accept education for their daughers and wives, but they want it on their terms. Ten million is a joke. posted by Dave on 12:51 AM | 0 comments link --------------------
